Teaching and Supervision

Teaching activity includes courses and seminars on Urartu, the Neo-Assyrian Empire, the Achaemenid Empire, Sasanian archaeology, and Iron Age Iran at institutions including the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Sapienza University of Rome, the University of Udine, and Masaryk University. He has also served as co-supervisor of MA and PhD theses and as supervisor of a postgraduate Master’s thesis.

Research Interests

Urartian archaeology and history; archaeology of the Southern Caucasus and Armenian Highlands; Iron Age Iran; Achaemenid archaeology; archaeology of Moldova and the Black Sea region; ancient landscapes, settlement systems, fortifications, architecture, historical geography, cultural heritage and public archaeology.
